Cheap Heap
I'm Awesome
Overall, my truck runs really well but occasionally I've had issues where it seems to start missing really badly and will barely drive. I bought a cap, rotor, new plugs and wires but when I took off the cap and rotor today I was greeted with a very roached out looking distributor.
I was able to easily pull off a very brittle, rusty piece of metal. Is this just a balancing weight?
Does this look like something I should try and rebuild or should I just buy a new distributor?
I've been trying to stick with AC Delco parts but a new AC Delco distributor is $229 from Rock Auto. Some other models are as low as $60. I hate doing things twice and I really hate buying electric parts that stop working after 6 months.
Should I try and rebuild what I have? Should I buy a new AC Delco distributor or roll the dice with an aftermarket one?
My truck sat for a good 10 years in Florida without being driven and this is what I'm dealing with...
