I'm Awesome
To start everything off...
On October 13/2013 was the day I had purchased my truck. Almost entirely all stock except the owner had aluminum side steps brush painted black ( ), bed rails, cab visor, big bug gaurd, and mud flaps. I bought the truck 15 minutes away from my town, and had been original owner. He had owned the truck for -so- many years and then had given it to his parents to drive for a while. He had been selling it for his parents as far as I know. It was in extremely nice shape for that year of a truck.... and you have to love the maroon interiors !! It had its original 350 TBI but the transmission had been replaced once (Unkown mileage) because OD burnt out. (I am assuming they hauled there boat in OD, but transmission was probably a `new to you`.) Even though it was a c1500, it was in too nice of shape to pass up. He was asking $4000 for the truck but had him down to $3000. Paid truck in full when I got it. What the previous owned was saying was that they probably never had the truck over 80/90 KM/h. Which is very believable, only noise from the truck was a lifter tick on Passenger bank. Basically this was an `Old man` truck.
Brought it home and the first thing I did was clean it right out.. Of course. Right?? Drove it for a couple months like the way it was and then we started changing things up..
Started off with the new grille. Although I disliked it simply because the fitment was crap. I`m sure it would have fit better with the other style bumper brackets and filler panel in it.
For my tail lights I used VHT nightshades to coat my lights using 3 coats. I then proceeded to use clear coat to protect them and give them a nice shine. They came out pretty good and still have really good visibility especially for near black tail lights. I got new tailights before I coated them, they were the regular ones that looked OEM and had the red lense and the incandescent bulbs. Reverse is still not terrible.
I had mudflaps with the black bowtie go on shortly after christmas as I got them as a gift from my parents. I can tell you, they have saved a LOT of my paint!!
After a little while I got everything done that I wanted.. For the time being.
But then all of a sudden outta nowhere !!
This basically bring me to the point where I am right now.
Some of the things that I am wanting to get done with my truck is obviously getting all the fenders fixed up, but aside the oblivious. I want to remove chrome, smoothie bumper, GMC grille with the street scene mess grille insert. (GMC logo delete and black chrome.) Change chassis with that for a 4x4 truck, rims.. HELO MAXX 6 I`m thinking with the black and polished ring. tinting windows, cowl hood. Some food for thought.. But what would you guys do if you were in the situation that I am in? Let me know your feedback. Thanks guys..
