Ord brackets give you 3 inches all by themselves

Correct, the ORD site explains to you that with their brackets and stock 73-87 front leaf springs that it's gives you 3-4 inches of lift and 8 with rear springs.

I was going to use the front springs from the 76 the axle is coming off of. Maybe I'll just get 4" lift springs for it

Ok if I wanted to run 35s how much lift looks good with them and what gears should I run

6 inch lift with 35s. Depends on what your doing with the truck for gears. 4:10 would be your best bet.

4:10 then. And while your at it you mind as well look into some lockers for the rear at least.
