I believe a buddy of mine frenched 5x7's into his rear head liner, they are super common, never seen the install tho so im not forsure, but I have his 5x7's now in my 94 pickup and I like them, great in little boxes for tailgate parties

Escalades/Denalis have adapter plates for 4" speakers.

I picked some out of a '00, but the Bose 4" speakers were toast. I will replace them with something else eventually.

4x10 suck. I actually wouldn't even bother replacing them. Just unplug them and spend the money you saved on better 6.5s for the doors or a 4 channel amp.

You can cut the stock speaker mounting plates to fit 6x9s pretty easily.

like half assed said take them out. that is horrible location to begin with so adding a larger speaker will do more bad then good. take the money and put it toward your frontstage.
