I installed an MSD Street Fire CD ignition box in my 1992 K1500,
(well now with dana 60 front and 14boltFF rear) with 5.7. Truck starts quicker, ideals a bit smoother, and has better throttle response, but now there is radio noise. it seems to vary from station to station, does not increase with engine rpm, and is not present when playing a CD. It sounds like static from poor reception, but I unhooked the Ignition box and plug stock wiring back in and it went a way????

Any ideas of cause (well the cause seems to be the box but why), and cure???

Thanks

It is mounted on the firewall right next to the coolant over flow tank.
Right where the AC accumulator would be if I had AC.

Your antenna wire is running right along there somewhere. I believe thru the cowl. It is making the noise interferance thru it, I would suspect.

Can I shield the antena cable or do I have to move the box.
Or is there some device I can put in the antena cable to help with noise?
