I have a 2000 Z71 Tahoe that I am looking to upgrade the brakes on. I found a thread where a guy installed 99-02 GMT800 1/2 ton front brakes and reamed the knuckles to fit over the GMT400 ball joints. I also thought I read that the 99-00 Z71 Tahoe used the 2500 3/4 ton front caliper. Can anyone confirm this? I have a line on 02 escalade front brakes which will be perfect as they have the smaller rotor which should clear 16" wheels.

GMT400 3/4 tons have 11 and 13-inch rotors depending the GVWR and engine combinations.
The 1998-1998 GMT400 3/4 tons will have the MKD369/370 pads (light duty 11 inch rotors v.s. heavy duty 13 inch rotors, respectively)
The 1999-2002 GMT800 1/2 tons will have the MKD785 pads.
The 1999-2000 Z71 Tahoe and 2002 Escalade use the MKD785 pads as well.

The 369/370 pads are entirely different from the 785-series, and I would be amazed if anyone's found a system to retrofit one to the other (one is short and tall, the other is narrow and long). Personally, I would just go with the OE ceramic 785s the Tahoe came with.

As long as you have 6 lug wheels, just follow the write up. 3/4 ton calipers on the 400 series trucks still used the smaller rotors. Heavy halfs (halves?) have the bigger calipers as well.
