I'm new to these things. I'm running Torque Pro and get the bluetooth connection to my phone, but it won't talk to the ECU. My truck is a 1996 GMC K1500 Suburban. I'm not sure if it's the ELM327 adapter or if the truck doesn't have enough brains being a 96.

Has anyone had success with getting one of these to work on a 96 truck?

Thanks!

I have the same adapter (is it blue and sort of see through?)

If so it works on my 2001. Do you have another vehicle to try it on? Maybe it's the adapter that is faulty.

Yeah, it's clear blue plastic. My other vehicles are pre 1996, so no OBD2 port.

In all honesty I would bet on a bum adapter. They are all pretty much made in China and are cheap so maybe try to exchange it for a new one. Unless you can try it on someone else's vehicle.
