Pondering a grille change

Thinking about making my own grille insert out of expanded metal and painting it black and then putting a chrome bowtie in the middle. Anyone help me out to get an idea of what it will look like?

FYI this truck is actually a chevy. Previous owner liked the color match better and that's what went in it when his buddy broke the stock chevy grille.

can u explain the expanded metal insert like a billet or a solid piece of metal

Yes that is what I meant by expanded metal. Only I was thinking that the expanded metal part would be gloss black. It looks pretty good as is, but I think the black would just break it up a bit. Thanks btw for the edits.

These are not Photoshop, I just put my insert in today an just set that emblem on there. Is from a 76 or so I believe an it's to flat to fit the curve of the grill but gives you an idea anyhow.

I'm not totally happy with the insert, but it was only $30 including shipping so I shouldn't be so picky I guess....
