Yea that whole "$500 nv4500" is pretty much a thing of the past on the coasts. I found 2 in 2012 (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/engines-trannys-t-cases-sale/1077719-2-nv4500s-sale-nj.html) but none this year, and I routinely visit junkyards in the tristate area. I'm sure they're out there...maybe people on the coasts are expected to spend weeks/months/years looking to find that deal while their project sits  . No thanks I got **** to do.

I know where to get nv3500s. If you want one and you're in NJ, they cost $225 and I'll throw in hydraulcs/clutch. :D

Ive done more foot work and talked to many different trans shops across the whole country... everyone agrees that "if your not breaking stuff, don't bother upgrading"
despite all the abuse ive thrown at this transmission it has not broken =)

rebuild ones are $600 up to $2,000... (all about warranty)
so yeah. think I found a good shop in TN and a secondary in TX ill order from... shipping is $200 alone though X( you'd think a state like CA... with 5xs more cars than people.... I could walk into autozone and buy one... nope.

Lucky you. In my province, I called 7 junkyards, none of them had a 4500, and only one had a 3500, and they wanted 565.

Some places, parts are scarce...

dude, everything is starting to get scarce for these trucks... I mean- they made MILLIONS of these 350s and I cant even buy a radiator hose over the counter now... tried 4 places... no upper hose...

Ok, that's strange. When it comes to new parts, I don't recall ever finding something my local parts store doesn't have in stock.

Go figure.

Alot of good parts went to their death after cash for clunkers. My ex father in law owns the local salvage, I went through a few of the trucks stealing seats and other minor parts. I was still on my 2nd truck and had it 5-6 yrs at that time and had no plans of getting rid of it or modifying it too much. If I knew then what I know now I would have been dropping NV3500/4500's out and throwing TH350/400's in the beds!
