After reading these two posts I wish I could find a steering column shaft that I could change to allow me to use a 2005 steering wheel on my 97. The first post shows the guy putting in a much newer wheel in his 97 and the second post shows a guy put in a 2005 and how to use a single stage airbag to plug it up to work. I just need to find a shaft like the first guy uses that will work in my truck for the 2005 wheel splines. Has anybody done this?

If I have read the articles correctly it looks like the perfect donor would be a steering column out of a 2003 - 2007 Express van with tilt since they have the same wheel, single stage airbag, and the shaft needed for the wheel. I think I'll buy a used column and begin testing. One article said 2004 and up so I think I'll look for a 2004 Express 2500 for my experiment.
