my check engine light came on

Ok guys on Friday night my CEL came on and my truck has been running no different thsn before. I went to autozone and the code PO442 came up which could either be a defective or loose gas cap, or could be a EVAP canister or hose cracked-not connecte, it could also be a purge or vent solenoid defective, or last but not least it could be a vaccum leak at engine. I'm thinking its my gas cap...

try the gas cap first,then the most common is the vent solinoid

Tighten cap and wait 2 days.

I have had this problem before and it was my gas cap. I wonder if I should just buy a new cap...

That seems like a lot of options for one code. If your gas cap "clicks" when you tighten it then you dont need a new cap.
