Ok, so I'm trying to identify what type of diff I have in my 1995 5.7 tbi with the 4 speed automatic. Is it limited slip, open or what? I do not see a g80 code it. I do see a gu6 and a ton more. Any help woul be appreciated

No G80 = open diff unless someone changed it.Ok, so I'm trying to identify what type of diff I have in my 1995 5.7 tbi with the 4 speed automatic. Is it limited slip, open or what? I do not see a g80 code it.
No such thing as "limited slip" on GMT400 trucks. It'd be a LOCKER or an open diff, and without G80, it's open. Thanks on that, the gu6 is 3.42 gears. Do you know of that is limited slip or what?
With a K1500, you've almost certainly got a 10-bolt cover, 8.5" ring gear axle with crappy 254mm (10") rear drum brakes. Perfect for an upgrade to a K2500 6-lug 9.5" axle, same gear ratio, 11.x inch rear drums. Better brakes, stronger axle, simple swap. I spent years looking for one of those in a 3.42 ratio for my '88 K1500 before finding one with G80, too. The 3.73 ratio is more-common, but that means replacing the front differential and reprogramming the truck to the new gears.K1500
