Hello new to the site, I was looking for a spot for this to post. I have some rust issues ( a hole with a crack line) on my rustic 88 . At the steering box frame section where a arm cross member meets. Am i wasting my time trying to fix this thing, I live in the Pa rust belt, body isnt that bad of shape and it runs well. Any suggestions? Thanks i hope the pic attached

How critical is this area? Can I fill it, pull the 2 bolts, plate it with 1/8 inch with the 2 holes pre drilled, weld it ? will the bolts still be long enough Just looking for some ideas, mechanic skills are so so. but i can weld well

Get busy with a grinder and see if you have enough clean metal to work with. Weld the crack then weld a plate over it.
