Heat blowing under dash

Should there be some type of insulation around the steering shaft under dash of my 97 ecsb z71, i only feel it while driving down road. Only on dr side

There should be a rubber seal around the base of the steering column. Then there should be some insulation over that.

You sure you are not feeling air coming from the floor vent..... But yes there should be a rubber grommet around the column.

Ya it feels like it's coming from the bottom of the steering shaft and from the engine bay.. it's blown my floor mats back before.

Check the rubber grommet then

Damn!!! Make sure the floor board isn't rotted as well, That's a lot of air flow.

My boot was pushed an inch or two away from the firewall, it has gotten hard, how hard would it be to replace?

It is not the floor vent, not blowing through the vents, floor isnt rotten, it is definitely the steering boot, it is a pain to get to it and i have no idea why it would be separated from the firewall... Fixed somewhat now
