I got a thrush glass pack and I am wondering about the best way to put it on my truck would be, I have a '96 chevy c1500 with all stock exhaust and everything.

Obviously I am going to need to cut out the muffler that's there, but it's a question of what to do next...Should I simply clamp the glass pack in place, or weld it?

If welding, is it safe to weld right on the exhaust pipes that have gasoline remnants all over? And also what about since it's very near to the gas tank, and sparks will be flying? Would throwing a piece of cardboard between the tank and the work area be sufficient? Thanks guys.

People weld in mufflers and glasspacks all the time. I had mine welded in but the tip is clamped on. Either works
