So has anybody here completed one of these swaps? Ive already completed a c1500 cab/bed on a k3500 chassis with a 6.2/th400 now im looking for a duramax/allison on a new hd chassis. I cant find any info on the mounts.

Anything is possible with a welder and a grinder... (I prefer a plasma though)

I've seen a 68 GMC cab and front clip mounted on a 2005 2500HD chassis.
He merged the floor and firewall from the GMT800 with the 68 cab...

I've also seen a mid 60's IH pickup done in a similar fashion using a GMT400 chassis. IIRC the cab was extended using a second IH cab as well. Google 67-72 Halfbreed.

Welder, torch, plasma cutter, measuring tools, and talent... or just plain balls.

Any reason you wouldn't just want to put the DMax/Allison in the GMT400 frame? There are motor mount kits available. I think that's the direction I'll go when my 6.5L grenades.

Well i was under the impression that the gmt 400 chassis wasnt strong enough for that kind of power and i also thought it would be a little easier if it was indeed a bolt on body/cab swap .

Maybe not strong enough if you’re going to throw a bunch of mods at it, but a stock DMax should be fine. I mean there are countless Cummins swaps out there.

This idea has merit,.
The better braking system is a plus right away,. Transplanting the cluster and all modules would make working on things easier.

I like this idea. I’ve thought about doing it for my ‘95 Suburban K1500. I’ve driven an ‘02 Suburban and it rose like a Caddy compared to the GMT400 chassis. Brakes will be much better as stated above. Looks like the GMT400 K1500 wheelbase is 1.5” longer then the GMT800’s. Would one just move the rear axle (along with shock mounts, etc) back 1.5”’s?
