I took the Yukon in to have both front axle seals changed again, after 11k miles. The shop said it is extremely rare for OEM seals to fail that quick. They suspect something else is happening, maybe a vibration in the front end or something similar. They did say my rotors are out-of-spec, only 2mm.

Any ideas on what can cause this premature failure? I'm hoping they're wrong and it just bad seals. Can't really afford to put much more $$ into this rig.

Plugged axle vent can cause the seals to leak. Being cut during installation can also cause them to leak.

Thanks. Does the vent cause too much pressure or something? Any other symptoms?

The shop called and they couldn't determine what the cause was. They are chalking it up to poor seals from the factory. Yay, I guess. I hope it doesn't happen again in another 11k miles.
