Hey all,

I wanted to get confirmation that it will be OK before I do it. :)

We have a 96 K1500 with a tow bar on the front, and I plan on flat towing it 160 miles tomorrow.

Will putting the t-case and trans in neutral be fine, or will there be enough fluid drag in the t-case that I need to put the transmission in gear to keep it from turning?

Would I be best to just unhook the rear driveline?

Thanks

I have also considered stopping ever 30 miles and starting it and letting it idle in 3rd with the t-case in neutral for a minute or so just a precaution.

yea, any automatic just pull the shafts. it only takes a few minutes and it saves thousands of dollars in a trans rebuild.

He has an NV3500, 5 speed. Either way, put the transfer case in neutral and go. My parents have been flat towing a Jeep TJ across Canada every year for almost 20 years and it still shifts great. With the transfer case in neutral the drivetrain is cut off from the road.
