i had the exact problem, ironically it happened after changing the spider (which i had to pull the upper plenum off, it ended up being the rotor, it was really hard to tell but it had somehow grounded itself out and if you looked at it from the underside (after removing it) then you could see a little burn mark where the spark was grounding out

Ok i feel like a complete idiot... Found the problem. The dist. was 180 degrees off. And the battery was dead, but somehow still turning the engine over.
