While motor/trans out, I decided a little cleaning was in order.
What I found was a cracked lower control arm mount on the passenger rear mount:

Anyone ever find this before? If so did you gusset or reinforce somehow or just grind and weld it?

I'm thinking a gusset or something is in order since I'm in there anyway....

Wow. I haven't seen one quite like that. I myself would probably cut the whole thing off and weld a new one on. But I have the equipment to do that.

Regardless of if you'd be alright just grooving it out and welding it up, fish plating the whole thing will always be better, so that's what I'd do.

I'm thinking I'll grind a grove, weld it up, then either fish-plate it or add some reinforcement gussets or maybe both. Will have to check header/starter clearances first.
I'd love to cut it out and replace it, but unfortunately, that just ain't in the cards for this guy.
