I bought my 89 1500 5.7 with a turbo 350 tranny in it. I want to go back to stock but am unsure what stock is and what all the previous owner might have swapped to use turbo350 in the first place. Any advice?

Ya someone definitely swapped it. Stock should be a 700R4....

I was figuring it was suppose to be the 700r4 but also saw some of the chevys in 89 came with a turbo400 but maybe that was just the v6 version mainly

Also i heard some of the turbo 350s came in the same length as the 700r4

Is it possible they switched just the tranny and not the crossmember or driveshaft. Cause my pinion angle front to back never seems to line up...I have the truck bagged on 22s and so i understand i need to adjust pinion but it just doesnt seem right no matter my angle i put it at.

sometimes people didn't like the 7r4 cause they had a tendancy to blow through clutch packs.... but that is not the case anymore.

If you are lucky the PO left the electrical plug for the trans so you could swap a 700r4 back in.

You can check your rpo sheet in the glove box or call a dealer with the vin but im pretty sure it should be a 700

All its going to have is a plug for lock up an the vss, the rest is done with the TV cable. If the lockup isn't there its no big deal, they are easy to wire up

a 700 is the same length as a long tailshaft 350. The crossmembers/mount are in different places though.....
