Gentlemen

I have a 93' C1500 with what I believe has a 305. The VIN tells me it had the 4.3 from factory and I reckon someone swapped it before I bought the truck. So until I pull it out where can I find casting numbers? Considering it is a 305, an economical tbi headache, is there anything I can replace with after market parts? Nothing crazy. Is it worth a rebuild? It is currently bolted to an NV3500 5 speed. Any ideas will help.

thanks

Casting numbers are located on the part of the block that bolts to the transmission. I can't remember which side, but are facing up on the rear of the block.

That's a tough question to answer. Factors like budget, intended use, expected life, expected performance all play into this kind of decision.

My 305 has been through hell
With neglect and half ass repairs over the years .... come on it's a 305

But I'd only swap if replacement was a built LS
And that's what I'm building now!
