Catalytic converter,

Hey guys My truck threw a check engine light and I got it checked. It said catalyst system deficiency below bank 2 (p0430) I asked a mechanic and he said its prob one or both of my cats. what sucks is my truck has two. And those suckers aren't cheap. Any ideas or recommendations?

Check the O2 sensors first, before replacing those expensive cats. Get the wideband sensors if that's the prob.

A high flow cat at advanced auto is 75 bucks. If I buy 4 02 sensors it would be more expensive the. 2 cats

I assume your cats are original? O2 sensors may be original too? P0430 is BANK 2. The only thing you can do to rule out the sensor is too see if what voltage you're getting.

I'm going to replace both my cats and all of the sensors in mine soon. Ugh...

I think I will go with the cats first. Then the two downstream sensors after that. My mechanic is really good and im pretty sure he almost always knows what he talks about. he also builds drag cars as a hobby. So il get some high flow cats here soon hopefully.
