Anything under around 1500. I also kno nothing about what trans (auto) to go with either. All in all it depends on what I can find at the time really.

But make sure you get one that is compatible with your year... they changed a lot over the years.

not alot but enough to make a slight difference here and there. id say run a 4l60e idt a v6 trans had the same bolt pattern or what the differences are but might be something to look at.

Ha. My plans may have changed. Possibly purchasing an all original '71 c10.. if not I'm still goin with this truck.
