I had the same problem with my truck, and it really sucks getting to the switch. I didn't have to remove the steering column, just follow the pigtail up under the dash and unplug it. The switch twists up off the pushrod, then slides off the pin on the brake peddle. Once you have both the switch and pigtail removed, its easier to diagnose the problem. I ended up having a loose connection in the connecter bucket. Hope this helps!
