Cant find the link to post pictures.... o well
So as you can see i still own it. I stripped all of the herculiner off the bed... talk about not fun. I would not recommend using that stuff, moisture got under it in places that it peeled and left me with some holes in the bed. Goal is to sand it down, spray with etch primer. then use some raptor liner! Which i know is a good product!
I also got a Headache rack for free! Cant beat that! Not made for this truck, but i dont think it looks too bad! Gonna put an led light bar on the top of that and weld two light taps on the back so i can have two KC'S pointed to the rear of the truck. SO im gonna sand it down and probably hit raptor liner on that as well.
Now on too the good stuff! So as you can tell in the pictures Ive got the Dana 44 torn down almost all the way, the axle came out of a 79 F-250. I was working on the Ujoints last night, what a pain getting those stupid clips off! and i finally took the Diff cover off, im pretty sure there's been water sitting in there for some time, since it mixed with the gear oil
I think it will be find though after i get it all cleaned up!
Also got some rust on the rockers near the bottom, gonna sand that down, hit it with some por 15 or chassis saver, then raptor liner it again!
On to the rear axle! Currently have a 14bolt Sf, with an Auburn locker in it. Thats gonna come out and be replaced by a 14bolt FF that im buying from a buddy. So i go from 6 lug to 8 lug and im gonna put disc brakes on it, plus lockers seem a lot cheaper for FF. The auburn locker is gonna go into my 97 which already has the 14bolt SF.
Currently im not trying to spend any money on the truck, so im gonna take off the 6in RCX that i have on there and sell it! Hopefully that will give me enough to buy front spring hangers from ORD or DIY4x4. Goal is to go to 8 or 9in of lift, shackle flip in the rear.
on the 8lug 16.5 Military Humvee wheels and the 37-12.50-16.5 that usually go on those.
When will it be done? Lord only knows
Stay Tuned!
