I know it's already done but I like to take the bolts out of the frame side of the control arms and lower them down. then just use a big pry bar and pop the spring out. No chance of the spring flying out and you won't tear up the boot on the ball joint.
as I was working on this I was trying to figure out how the coil could just FLY out. The TRE is on one side, front is the spindle/brakes and besides that the top frame coil bucket is very deep. Even with the LCA on the ground I stuggled to position the coil so I could remove it. Im all about safety but I just dont see how it would fly off unless maybe you had it up to high or on a lift.
