98 SC 4x4 vortex 305 with 4l60e with broken sunhell. I have a 4l65e from a 04 Denali 4x4. From the investigating I've done. It seems like a simple swap and everything is plug and play. Is this correct or am I missing something. Any advice is appreciated.

98 should have the same Park Neutral safety switch mounting hole pattern so your good to go from what I know.

Is the difference in the converter and bellhousing depth? There is an element of SBC vs LS here as well.

Bellhousing are all the same. Some had different input shafts and such. I know some of the V6 did. Pretty sure all the 4cyl did.

Would have to just look at everything and see what you can find

I think this can be done, but you'd have to swap over the input shaft, front pump, and valvebody at the very least. 95 is an oddball year and you have to use a 95 transmission. AFAIK, theres no way to make the LS converter work behind a SBC, it can only be done the other way around. You could swap all the upgraded parts and the good sunshell from the 65 into the 95 trans to have essentially a 1995 4l65e. It would be easier just to have your trans rebuilt or to find a working 95 trans.

OP doesn't have a 95. . .
