A tailgate lock+cable replacement (92 CK truck)

Hi there,

I am about to replace the tailgate latch, as mine failed, and this really irritates me. I found out the GM part number for it, it's 15724157. I have got a '92 CK, extended cab, and was wondering if the piece from the regular cab will work out on mine? As I am replacing not only the latch itself, but the cable also, and I'm afraid that it may appear too short...
If any of you guys tried replacing the latch and/or cable and know whether there is any difference, please let me know.

if you really mean "tailgate latch", it doesn't matter what cab it came from. they are all the same.

You can probably take it out free it up and lube it . Except for the plastic clips there isn't much to break.

While you at at this point, you might want to think about buying a lockable tailgate handle... if you use a hard cover or cap. I bought one and love it.
