Take off the tube from the top of the throttle body, and poor a little gas into the throttle body. Just an ounce or so. Then try to start the truck. If it starts, or almost starts, act's like it wants to start, it is most likely the fuel pump. 5.7 L Vortec engines need a lot of fuel pressure to start. A test of the fuel system before start up should be over 60 PSI, and around 50ish once started. The pump gets week in time, and eventual wont put out enough pressure to run the engine. You can still be getting fuel, but not enough pressure for the engine to run.

Can use brake clean aswell rather then gas.. take air cleaner off at throttle body. Spray a few times and try to crank it....

Test for spark aswell... pull a plug.. insert sparkplug and lay the threaded part of the spark plug against the block... crank it over. Looking for a good bluish spark... easier with two people...

sent from what use to be a great country...
