Well I sold the K3500 (as you can see in that post) and bought this truck. I've had it for three days and hands down I have enjoyed this truck more than any other truck I have owned! I've had plenty of new GMCs (04, 08, 09) This truck is exceptionally clean for the year and the Northeast environment and only has 96,000 miles! The previous owners appeared to have taken care of the truck and have done the required mods to keep a 6.5 alive. I looked up all the RPO codes and everything is stock right down to the factory colors. The only mods I'm thinking of are the towing mirrors and I'm also toying with the idea of putting my 7'6" Fisher MM1 on it. the 1996 in the title is a typo, it's actually a '95

Nice truck but i can already point out two mods that will need to be done for reliability. Removing the "Turbo Power" cover and relocating the PMD outside of the engine bay.

Take a look at this link, it will explain why the PMD needs to be moved.

So just take off the turbo power cover completely and leave it off? The dealer told me where the PMD was relocated already with a heatsink and fan (you can see it next to the turbo power cover) Is that still a bad spot for it? Should I make the effort to relocate it behind the light like in your thread? Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks for the compliments too guys

Yes you should still relocate it, it doesn't need to be anywhere near engine heat! I had one on my 96 CC dually die and leave me stranded.

Can't say I've seen a relocation kit with a fan before, but with the under hood heat these things produce it probably still won't be enough best place for it is inside the bumper between the two air holes.

Thanks for the tips, I just ordered a 40" extension cable for the PMD from usdieselparts online. Thinking about mounting it in the cab, is that a bad idea? Does the PMD (FSD) itself get really hot just from operation? If so I guess I'll go with the front bumper/grill area for better cooling.

Usually eve n when mounted behind the bumper they are still mounted on a heat sink so i'd imagine yes and that you want good airflow by it. I know there is a thread somewhere on here detailing this relocation.
