There is one farm here that has a 1/2 ton GMT400 and they pull some huge 5th wheel trailers with it! I will get a pic next time I see it

nothing wrong with a gooseneck in a 1500. as long as your pulling a lightduty trailer and not overloading it.a gooseneck trailer is easier to maneuver and better to pull because all the tongue weight is over the rear axle.
