So my 95 k1500 suburban has a 350 TBI and it's got 365000k on it so it's starting to slow down And I'm needing something thats got some power but has to be pretty good on gas!
I've been think about three differentthings to replace it.
1 rebuild the stock 350 and add a edelbrock top end kit.
2 rebuild a smallblock 400 that I've got and either put a carb on it or use the tbi and get a new prom burnt.
3 get a used Lq9 vortec 6.0L engine and swap it out with my 350

What do you guys think would be the best, and how hard would it be to do the swaps? And has anyone done any of them?

Ya I've got one sitting in my shop that I want to put in but I'm thinking it would be a bigger pig on gas then the 350!

Def a cammed LQ9... With a cam, intake, exhaust, and tune they can make real good power, plus they sound amazing

But to answer your question of difficulty, the 6.0 is def the hardest, due to all of the wiring needed, but if you can find a wrecked one, take all of the harnesses and computers to swap into your truck... The only problem people have when swapping an LS into our trucks, is you need to get an AC relocation bracket, if you decide you want AC, which from what I have seen run around $800

well, lets be honest, the 350 will be the best for millage, everyone i know with a 6.0 is getting no more the 10, usually around 8.
the 400 with a carb you can expect around 8
the 350 should be pulling 10-16, or thats my guess with the top end kit.

I have found the exact opposite with the 350 and 363, my dads '02 Denali gets about 15, my 350 vortec gets about 11...

363? im guessing you talking about 6.0s, i think one of the 6.0 trucks i was talking about ( my grandpas before he passed and it is now my uncles) has only pulled over 12 once, but usally only get about 8 average, but it does sit a lot, and its an 03 with not even 40,000 miles on it.
if your wanting to do a motor swap and get decen millage id say swap to a 5.3, or a diesel, dads 5.3 is getting 17-18 mpg, while the 03 5.3 is getting 11-14 mpg latly.

Rebuild the 350, do the normal tbi mods, headers, and call it good, if you want to save money on gas, swaping to a different engine or going carbed is going to net you worse mileage or take a long time to make that money spent on the swap back on the gas savings. What gears do you have? and what size tires?

Yes 6.0l=363ci... I would still suggest a 6.0 swap... The best way to get good mileage is to pretend there's an egg under your right foot :waytogo:
