I'm Awesome
I'm not sure my tranny is pooched or not, but I dont want to mess around with fixing parts here and there. Its my understanding the the 4L80 is damn near bullet proof. So my plan is to swap trannies.
I am going to try and find a used tranny, but I dont know what they were in. I know they were in the 1 tons, but what years is my first question.
I know the output shaft to the transfer case are different. So my second question is can I use the transfer case from a 4L80 truck? I have the push button 4x4, and would like to keep it that way, but I can adjust as need be.
The article that was copied and stickied says you need new drive shafts according to your lift. Does this mean that stock height can use stock shafts? I plan on going with dana 60's down the road and if I need new shafts, this is going to be a double header cause I'm only buying shafts once. No sence doing it then having to redo it.
My next question is the transfer case compatability of my wifes 95 C1500 with 4.3 and my stocker. If I can give her my drive shafts and torsion bars and everything else out of my front end, then can I also give her my transfer case if I swap to the case from the 4L80?
The long and short of my plan (if I can make it work) is that my 97 will get a 4L80 with dana 60's front and back, and my scraps will make the wifes 95 a much more robust truck.
