ok so I'm at the point where the 3.73's have got to go, I got past by a school bus today…i F&*$%@# school bus. On the highway and up a hill its a dog.

The truck is a 5.7 350 with an automatic, with a 10 bolt. The big question…4.56 or 4.88? The truck has 37inch Coopers…actually measure 36.5 with a 6 inch lift.

I drive on the highway a bit, so I don't want the gas mileage to kill me. Most of the time its around town. I won't be spending all day towing, or bogging.

So I know the 10 bolt is not favored, but what are your thoughts would love to hear from folks using either setup.

5.13, is what I'm gearing my D44Hp/14B combo to run 37's. Put's me at 2300 rpm at 70. So just fine for driving to the trail.

I don't, really. I mean, it feels stock - if I could do it over again, I would have gotten 4.88s. I didn't want stock feeling though, I wanted a lot more off the line, and am not concerned about mpg. I don't daily drive mine though.

I've never regretted gearing lower than what the average person would say. I DD'd a Mustang with 4.30's and it was great lol.

I did once spend a big pile of money regearing my axles to run 3.73's with 35's and no OD, and was really disappointed, since then, I err to the other side. Having seen your intor thread, I'm assuming, that like me, it's not critical to idle down the highway and save every drop of fuel, which is why I say 5.13's.

4.88 is least lowest gear you'd want to run with 37" tires. It would be very close to 3.73 and stock tires. Running 4.56 and 35's myself, I'll echo what the guys above have said...more gear is better. Go 5.13 and don't look back.

Stupid question but not fimiliar with gearing. i have a k3500 with a 350. 4.10 gears, 6in lift. if i was to go with the 5.13s, would i still be able to do 80mph without being ***** out? lol if you dont do 80 on the freeway here, you will get ran over lol. i know it would give it more low end

Depends on the tire - I would do 80 no problem with 5.13s on anything taller than 35"s.
