I intend this thread to be the story of my truck Penny.

I have long loved the GMT 400 trucks, and have been owning/riding in them since I was born. My father has a 1999 4wd suburban in victory red, and my first truck was a 1992 full size blazer in history red. Some could say we're pretty alike... anyways, I owned the blazer for five years, and in that time restored most of the truck, and did an LS1 swap in it. But thats another story.

This thread will be the story of the truck that replaced my Blazer. A 1998 C1500 4.3L (for now...) RCSB with 240,000 already on the ODO.

I bought the truck from a.... lower class area of fort worth in July of 2016, and driving it home with the layers of window tint on the windows, the poorly aimed, poorly lit HID lights in the front of it, and brake lights that shifted out was quite an experience. But I limped her home, and this is how she sat day one in the driveway.

My intentions with this truck are to take it back to it's glory days. I don't like fancy wheels, although I will be getting NBS wheels for it. I don't like LEDs or HIDs or any of that mess. I like these trucks stock, or at least super stock, and that's my intention with Penny.

So first things first with the truck, I replaced these things in July/Aug 2016:

Interior:

New carpet
Deep cleaned seats and seatbelts (OxyClean spray is the best)
Removed window tint layers, and installed a single layer of grey 35%.
Fixed leak in front firewall that leaked water onto passenger floorpan.
Fixed leak in rear glass that leaked onto Passenger floorpan.
Removed LED lights that were stuck everywhere and looked cheap.
Installed new headhunt (Kenwood KMM-BT515HD)
Installed new front door speakers (JVC GX 600c Components)
Installed new rear speakers (Polk Audio db461)
Repainted a few trim pieces that were faded.
Replaced door hinge pins for both doors.
Replaced door roller pins for both doors.
Replaced lock cylinder for ignition
Replaced exterior door handles (GM parts)
Replaced exterior door lock cylinders
Replaced door lock actuators both doors
Replaced driver window actuator
Replaced window switched both doors
Replaced both sideview mirrors

Tried to take as many pictures as I could through this, but I wasn't sure if I was going to do a build thread until the end. Anyways if anyone needs help with doing any of those projects let me know!

The dashboard is cracked and I am currently working on finding a replacement... They aren't easy to find. Anyone knows of a grey one in Texas let me know!

Onto a few other things:

Replaced front headlights with OEM headlights.
Replaced tail lights with OEM tail lights.
Serviced differential
Serviced transmission
Engine oil change
Engine general service

(Don't know how much this engine has left in it. I plan on running it until it dies and replacing the whole engine/tranny assembly with crate 5.7 when it does.)

Next thing I did was a brake system replacement.

New Brake booster
New Master Cylinder
New front pads, rotors, bearings, lines, and calipers.
New rear shoes, cylinders, drums, and lines.

I didn't take many pictures of this yet sorry :(

I would have been happy to sell them to you @88GMCtruck, but they had some serious issues. Something had caused them to melt their wiring harnesses, and they were shorting out and such. Couldn't have sold them to anyone with a clean conscience, so they went in the trash.

Side note... If anyone is around Central Texas and would like to have a Victory Red steel roll pan, I'd love to trade you for your stock bumper or equivalent and it's hardware if its in good condition.

If you're not in Central Texas and want to pay shipping for all that, I wouldn't mind either really.

Hope this helps, I'm jealous of how many truck parts you guys have over there in Texas.

Love the build so far, subbed.
