I'm not really sure its called but I call it the 4wd driveshaft.

I yanked it out the other day doing some maintenance work and discovered that both ujoints were shot and have those on order at the moment.

But my main question is there anyway to do any maintenance on these? Or rebuild them? One thing I noticed is that when I push down on it you can hear the grease squish and come out the one end.. Is this normal? Or should there be a zerk on the end?

Sounds like you need new u joints. I assume you are talking about the front driveshaft?
