1997 Z71 - Recondition and Modify!

As I had posted in the member pics.. this is my new 97 k1500 Z71. I came from a Mega Cab on 38's and 20's... So I have a huge void to fill.... I am going to make this truck a respectable looking truck over time. Currently on the clock is 190,000 miles, with a freshened up engine. The transmission is missing 3rd gear, steering box is toast and the rear end whines. Here are the before pics.... and will continue to add pics as i go!

Transmission parts came in this week! Tearing her apart hopefully this weekend.

Also got the steering box in the mail, and will pull the rear apart to see which bearing is bad. I also ordered new tail lights.. and they should be in today!

Update.

Trans is done. Shifting nice and smooth and replaced all the bearings in the rear end. Tearing the front end apart now. While we had the stuff out, replaced the rear main seal, tail shaft seal, drained the transfer case, new wheel cylinders and axle seals.

Truck is gonna drive awesome after we are done... lol.

New Updates!!!

Truck has been running great.

Added LED cool white bulbs to the gauge cluster and HVAC.

Ordered a new ignition lock cylinder cause the turning knob broke... ACdelco NOS part... and got 2 OEM keys for it.

New glove box ordered as mine is messed up and broken, new fuse panel so its color matches.

Removed old wheel well trim, and turned up the torsion keys a bit.

Got new mirrors.

LED Reverse lights

I just ordered HID's for the truck, so they will be in soon as well. More coming soon.

Did some Painting on the rear bumper cap... to make it look new again with some trim paint.

New HID's! 55W 6000K from DDM Tuning. They work great

Also ordered new headlights and turn signals.. OEM. They will be in next week!

Got a new glove box! Old one was broken and wore out. The newer one is in alot better shape.

Got the new light housings in!

Had to paint the corner connector black as factory it is white, and get 2 new amber 194 bulbs. Used the corners I had ordered wrong a couple years ago for my 91.
