wondering if i would run into any issues here, wanting to put my 1996 C1500 body and engine onto my 1993 K1500 chassis, i need to buy a trans for the 1993 anyways, so ill just buy a 1996 trans.

I will be using
1996 Body, interior and box (Cab will be cutout for 4x4 shifter)
1993 chassis with 1996 fuel lines and tank
1996 Vortec 350
1996 4L60E
1993 T-Case (Manual Shift)
1996 Exhaust
1996 Wiring harness
Posi Lok for front diff (So i dont have to worry about wiring)

Does anyone see any problems i would have with this?, both trucks are running driving trucks, i own them both, the 1993 is rusted to hell and needs a trans.

Trucks in question

Everything should swap over.

HOWEVER...

Why not just do a SAS on the 1996 and install the 1996 4x4 trans you'll have to buy anyway, transfer case, rear axle from the 1993, etc? TONS less work and a stronger truck when you're finished. :) Just a thought.

While I do agree SAS would be the way to go, it's a little overkill for what I'm doing and is abit out of my price range at the moment.

I really only use 4x4 in winter and hunting season, not really into mudding or anything hardcore.

My thoughts are I could do this body swap for relatively cheap.

I hate to see the beast be torn apart :bawl:

Part out the 4x4 to recoup the cost of a sas. You don't need that hardcore 4x4 now, but you might in the future... :hmm:

I like the summer truck winter truck idea or you could swap in the 4x4 system like my dad and uncle did because my dad's truck (91 ecss) was in much better condition and my uncles truck (95 ecss) frame bent one day it was so rusted but it did turn out great when they were done and had new fenders and body panels back to brand new

So personally I would do the whole drive trans from the 4x4 into the 96 except the motor it could help you avoid having to take off the cab and box

The only way to put a 4x4 drivetrain on a 2wd is to swap frames or put in a SFA and add a tranfercase. I think a SAS would be easier, but the frame swap would be cheaper, but a lot more time consuming.

Gonna chime in here...i think everyone forgets the fact he already has a summer toy in the form of his screenname namesake...his Orange '94....So i agree with the idea of the '96 body/drivetrain swap onto the '93 4wd chassis. As long as hes got both trucks side by side it should be somewhat easy to determine what needs to go where.
