1994 cummins Diesel Need advice

So I have wanted a diesel now for over than a year and I've have always been fond of cummins and chevy diesels. I have found a couple different duramax trucks but I have heard that the injectors for the those can be a arm and a leg and the truck it self is usually above 6,000 which is still over my budget (doesnt bother me id love to have a chevy dont get me wrong). I always wanted a cummins since I was a freshman in high school and now I am beginning to do more farm work and could really use a good diesel. Honestly I wouldn't buy either one of them. I wouldn't own a standard cab for anything other than a hot rod. The blue one has so much rust that I would feel the need for a tetanus shot before touching it. The red one has been worked pretty hard. I'd be hard pressed to pay more than $3000 for it. You do have to look at my Oregon perspective though.
