15x8 3.75 bs or 17x9 4.5 bs

I've fried my brain trying to figure this out....... I have 17x9 4.5 bs wheels and I was thinking about going back the 15x8 3.75 bs wheels ... truck is a 97 ext cab silverado on 4" spindles.... so my question Is which wheel sticks out farther. .....

The 15's by back spacing.... but if you consider the rim width they about equal out..

That's what I was thinking, I don't want them to stick out to far...

Won't the 17x9s stick out 4.5" from the hub, and the 15x8 will stick out 4.25"? Meaning the 17x9s will stick out 1/4" farther to the outside edge.

That's why I said they about equal out... you will not by eye notice 1/4" unless you know its that way already and depending on tire choice the tire side wall"bites" will make it look like it sticks out more as well...

yea they are correct, .25" difference. minimal. You're real decision is if you want the extra rubber you're gonna get from the 15" wheel vs the 17" wheel. If that doesn't matter, I would just choose which wheel you like the look of better
