Running Rough after Intake Gasket Replacement

Success! Went back and readjusted the valve lash. Went with 1/2 turn past zero lash and she runs like a Swiss watch. Thanks everyone for your time and help!

Running Rough after Intake Gasket Replacement

Update: Plug wires are installed correctly. Leaning towards injectors now. Gonna check for ignition and compression next.

Running Rough after Intake Gasket Replacement

Did some data logging also. The MAP is within acceptable range per the service manual. May be a residual code from when I found it loose.

Running Rough after Intake Gasket Replacement

Right before the gasket job I ran a test every cylinder was 195-205. If the rockers are too tight it will cause a loss of some or all of compression also. I'm leaning more and more towards that. I will recheck compression on them two and see if that is the cause. I have heard of ignition...

Running Rough after Intake Gasket Replacement

It moved a good bit when I plugged it back in so I believe its time to replace the seal or just the whole thing. I don't think I have a vacuum leak, if I do its very little. Yes I did take the rockers, pushrods, and lifters out to clean and inspect all of them. I used the GM recommended no lash...

Running Rough after Intake Gasket Replacement

I removed it as an assembly. I will recheck the wires and check for spark before I mess with the rockers. Also the distributor cap is new. I broke the old one installing it. Still curious about the MAP but I know it wouldn't cause what I have now.

Running Rough after Intake Gasket Replacement

Thanks for the info! Currently I have 0.0 degrees to -0.8 degrees of cam retard. #5 and #7 cylinders are dead. Missing pretty bad. I am thinking I may have over tightened the rockers.

Running Rough after Intake Gasket Replacement

Got a P1345 code just a bit ago. Service manual says that means the distributor is installed incorrectly. So I pulled it gonna give it another shot later.

Running Rough after Intake Gasket Replacement

1996 K1500 5.7 I just finished intake gaskets but the truck is running very rough. Throwing P0106 for map sensor performace and P0300 for multiple random cylinder misfire. The truck ran great prior to teardown. From what I can gather from the service manual I expect a vaccuum leak. Gonna go try...

    Electric 4x4 insanity

Had a similar issue but mine was the front actuator. Mine is the non thermal type. I would check to make sure the front actuator is getting power before going further. My harness looked pretty rough when I changed the actuator. Turn the key all the way on without starting the engine in neutral...

    BS oreilly experience

Never go to O'Reilly's for electronic parts. They are made by the same company who supplies Advance but the majority of electronic parts that O'Reilly's sell have failed quality control. Came straight from a district manager I know.

    Extremely Long Crank, every start.

Glad to hear You got it fixed! I kinda figured after my camaro experience. It can fool the best of us. Took me couple of months to figure out I had a bad starter. Working on jets everyday seems to make me wanna skip the simple stuff in the troubleshooting phase.

    Extremely Long Crank, every start.

I would also check the air filter while your at it. I know it sounds crazy but I've seen one stop a dodge from starting at all.

    Extremely Long Crank, every start.

I know the feeling. By the way is the check engine light on ?

    Extremely Long Crank, every start.

That starter is a piece of cake if I remember right. Two vertical bolts and a shim and it will drop right out. If there is another truck similar to yours around listen to how fast it spins the engine over.

    Extremely Long Crank, every start.

I had a LT Camaro with the same problem. Fuel pressure was great ended up being a starter. It seemed to crank plenty fast enough but wasn't until I changed the starter that I realized how fast it needed to spin. If you hit a brick wall with trouble shooting I would also check compression. Ive...

    1999 Suburban 4l60E 2-3 flare with a twist

You may have gotten lucky. Last time I seafoamed a transmission it went 20 miles later. Sometimes a marginal trans if left better uncleaned if the fluid looks decent. My 96 K1500 as had a clunky shift between 2-3 under light load for months. Went away while towing 4500lbs then came back soon as...

    Need Advice on Front Diff

1996 K1500 Z71 with pushbutton 4x4 I know the axle bearings are bad due to slight grinding felt through floorboard and roaring. I suspected hub bearing changed one and found the afflicted bearing on the front diff. Makes noise when spinning tire on jacks. Both sides have a considerable amount...

    Power steering trouble

So I replaced the pump on my Z71 yesterday, and followed the GM bleed procedure. Let the truck down onto my garage floor and fired it up. My steering was like butter for 3 lock to lock turns then all of a sudden no power steering. I can barely get some assist around 2,ooorpm but other than that...
