14 Bolt sf Swap Alignment problems

The 4x4 SF 14 bolt is either 1/2 or 1 inch wider than the 4x4 10 bolt. Not enough to make a difference. I had measured mine wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface when I did the swap. Just because it's a new alignment machine doesn't mean it's calibrated either. We get some re-aligns...

    Brakes

Best thing I ever did was put the SF 6 lug 14 bolt in. The larger shoes/drums are night and day compared to the 10 bolt brakes. IMO, all trucks should have come with the larger rear brakes.

    REAR wheel well liners?

Yup. Apparently no-one makes them for our trucks. Wondering if anyone has tried some from a different year that work.

    REAR wheel well liners?

Anyone find a plastic wheel well liner to work on the rear/bed of our trucks? I picked up a rust free bed from a Georgia truck and would like it to last. My existing bed completely rotted out on the seem in the wheel well. I'm not looking for perfect, just something that will fit and not fall out.

    TBI Spectra distributor?

Along with my 97 GMC, I have a TBI 350 in my Jeep CJ. The ignition module crapped out on me, towed home. Replaced it, ran good for about 12 miles and crapped out the new one. Figured the coil pickup was bad, decided to replace the whole distributor, the only one I could find in short order was a...

What is in the front of the K1500 diff?

I have a Lock-Rite in the front of my Jeep CJ, turning can be very interesting. It's either severe understeer or severe oversteer. Not something I'd want in my truck. Selectable would be best if it could handle it....

Want to swap the 10 bolt rear with 4:88's to a 14 bolt which is best?

Love the 14b SF rear brakes. Much improvement over the 10 bolt brakes.

ABS kicks in at low speeds...Driving me insane.

Most common here in Maine is rust build up under the sensor. The rust lifts the sensor up away from the tone ring so the sensor cannot read correctly. Causing the ABS to engage just before a complete stop. With that said, a bad sensor is also a possibility. No need to remove the hub, pull the...

    K1500 Rear axle swap (6-lug 10-bolt to 6-lug 14-bolt sf)

Just an update on parking brake cables. Had to replace the driver side rear yesterday. I was getting some weird braking issues, seems the cable was partially sticking.... Anyway, I bought one from the parts store for the 11 inch SF brakes. The cable itself is about one inch shorter, the problem...

    1995 C1500 Brake Issues

While doing research before I swapped my 14 bolt in last spring, I searched masters and prop valves. Same no matter what axle. 1/2 or 3/4 ton. I work at a repair shop and do all my own work. I have never had better brakes in my 97. I was afraid I may get some rear wheel lock on ice/snow. Non. It...

    99-07 springs on 97?

found some specs. Same width. Same length. Same measurement from pin (center) to spring end. The major differences seems to be the bushing and the bolt size used.

    99-07 springs on 97?

Will rear springs from an 03 fit on my 97? I haven't been able to find any specs (length/width/etc).

    9.25 front leaking

Housing isn't cracked is it? We had one in the shop a few years ago (maybe last year, lol). We believe the owner was spinning the rear tires than dropped it into 4wd...... No, not saying this is what you did. Just that I have seen a couple broken.

Rear Drum to Disc Conversion kit questions.

I put a SF 14 bolt in my 97 this spring, I was going to install a disc brake kit as ALL of the drum brake parts needed replacing. I work at a repair shop and was noticing how many rear disc trucks need brake jobs (pads and rotors), stuck calipers, stuck slides. Than I got to thinking how many...

Was the hub surface cleaned where the rotors sit? Any rust will cause the rotors to not run true.

14 bolt SF non Posi to Posi

" I discovered that in 2wd, trying to climb any sort of incline under moderately normal load would kick the rear end out significantly. I didn't have any weight in the back either. I will say, under normal driving conditions, or in mud/dirt, the truetrac is amazing, but in snow, it did in fact...

14 bolt SF non Posi to Posi

And as far as it unlocking about 15/20mph. From my 'posi' experience in other vehicles, it's a great feature in snow while driving down the road. Instead of just one tire spinning on ice, both spin and the a$$ end wants to kick out. Which can end up with you in the ditch. Now, if you live in an...

14 bolt SF non Posi to Posi

There are millions of G80's on the road. Like anything else, we only hear about the bad, which is honestly a small portion. I know of some that have gone well over 200k. One guy I know swears by them and only buys a truck with the G80. There will always be a bad one in every bunch. Most of the...

    rebuild or new 4l60e

Finding a reputable trans rebuild shop can be a daunting task.... I couldn't find one in my area that most liked. I ended up with a GM reman almost 3 years ago for my 97. 3 year, 100,000 mile warranty. And if it goes bad, I can have it towed to any GM dealership for a replacement.
