2000 K3500 and at low speeds, 10mph or less, when applying the brakes (i.e. coming to a stop, rolling through a parking lot, or getting in or out of parking spaces) the ABS kicks in and I have to push the pedal harder to get the truck to stop. No CEL or codes, no Brake or ABS lights on the dash... I just serviced the front brakes with new pads and the calipers are functioning normally.

I can't speak from experience when it comes to full size GM trucks - but I've had the exact same issue on 3 different S-Series pickups I've owned. I wound up replacing the ABS Sensors in them.

Thats what I'm afraid of. You have to remove the wheel bearings to change the sensor as far as I can tell, and that is a massive undertaking on these trucks especially when you take into account the age/miles/levels of rust on my truck...

It should just be bolted to the hub with one bolt. When mine went out i did the whole bearing because of the mileage and i have no history on this burb. Also heard that rust flakes get on the sensor and cause it to do strange stuff and cleaning it off is only temporary solution and changing out the bearing would solve it permanently.

I believe you are correct there, but I believe I would have to disassemble the entire front hub to access the sensor. It is necessary take everything apart to replace the rotors on my truck as well. One bolt head has been rounded off as far as I can tell, so its going to be a job.

My 1995 K3500 did that when the brakes were wet and first thing in the morning. I used to make a habit of dragging the brake for about half aa block to dry them out every morning. No problem after that.

I thought that too at first, but I can drive for miles and miles and miles and still have it happen.

Pull da fuse as a temp. solution if you don't want to fix it? I love ABS, would have to have it working but I hate rusty trucks so I'd probably sell that and get something cleaner...

That has crossed my mind, but I only paid 3800 for the truck. The closest replacement I could find would cost upwards of $8K in my area, and I'd have to do a lot of what I've already done, again. It really is a great truck, but I knew (sort of) what I was getting into.

I pulled my ABS relay 8 years ago. I should probably have fixed it by now but the front end is still in great shape and I'm not interested in taking it all part. In my state ABS is not required to pass inspection so I'll live with the risk
