I am looking to buying the JDM ASTAR LED switch back bulbs. I already have a flasher capable of running LED's. I am just looking for a 2nd opinion because i was told i needed to run load resistors even though i already have the ep29 flasher. Seeing if its worth it or not spending the extra 2 dollars.

When I first put LED signals in my GMT400 I installed load resistors. I later hacked my flasher (similar result as getting the LED-specific flasher) and removed the load resistors. Then, I installed switchbacks...and they would not operate correctly. Added my load resistors back in and the switchbacks worked.

So answer is: probably

Every light in/on my rig is LED, and I’m using switchbacks. No load resistors. I just have the LED flasher and I’ve never had a problem

Yeah, not surprised there would be people with differing results - because there are so many different LED products out there. That's why I mentioned which ones I had; the old V-LED's SMD style that are no longer offered, at least not by them. Edit - hmm, after reading back I guess that was that "other" thread I mentioned which type I had specifically. lol

I've got slightly newer style DDM switchbacks in my 2006 300C SRT8 but that's a single turn signal bulb per side setup, vs. the GMT400 with dual...plus its flashing is completely controlled by the BCM, no flasher module. I had to install load resistors to keep the blink rate correct tho, but that's with any LED's on it, unrelated to the fact I ran switchbacks.
