I have a 95, 5.7, 4WD, 1500 Suburban. It has all of the trailer options on it. 143K miles. In the last 5-7 years I average 3K miles. The last two times I have taken it out the engine cuts out 2-3 times very quickly...it has never stalled...then it runs OK and then cuts out again. It feels like a short someplace. Could be a fuel issue...not sure. It does it with the air on or off. Once I drive it for a few miles...5-10 miles...it will stop for awhile. The longer I drive the less it does this. I have checked all of the ground wires, battery connections, plug wires, etc. I haven't found anything yet. I keep a charger on when I'm not driving it so the battery is charged. I have a Sears DieHard battery on it...was purchased in 2009, but has only maybe 18-20K miles.

Was wondering if anyone has had an issues like this. Please let me know.

Thanks,
Dave

Very difficult to diagnose if it doesn't die completely and stay dead. Failing fuel pump, failing ICM, bad connections at a number of places, rubbed wires, and on and on. Some of the TBI guys have mentioned that magnet in the distributor's pickup coil have a tendency to crack and cause weird cutting out/sputtering issues. You may pull the cap off and inspect that to see if it could be a problem.
