Man I havent worked on the tahoe in over a week... I bought a ZR1 corvette while I was on vacation in Tampa so my focus has been directed at that sine I got back this weekend.

Hopefully this week I can knock out the rear drop on the tahoe.

Don't use the dropped control arms! Nope, nope, nope!
There are members here that have 'em. I guess they like them, but you'll be much happier with 2" spindles, & the 2" springs, with 1/2 a coil (or so) cut out to drop the extra inch for a 5" drop.
There's a thread here on what others have experienced with cutting coils & the drops that they achieved with whatever amount they cut out.
DONE CUT SPRINGS THATS HAACCKK!!

Lowering springs mimic the soft stock ride characteristics. Gramps would like that, but NOT very performance oriented. Too soft! Mushy. They compress too much during any type of enthusiastic corner carving, which causes issues with inner fenderwell clearances & fender lips.
Cutting springs increases the spring rate. Bit of a stiffer ride, but it eliminates the clearance issues. It's been done 1000's of times with no ill results.
Not hack if it's done properly. No torches! Drop the spring in a bucket of water with the amount to be cut off above the surface of the H2o. Then use a cut-off wheel to remove the amount desired. This will maintain the spring steel's tension integrity.

You only really get into issues with cut springs when you cut a bunch off. Most springs won't see the amount of drop the person cutting wants until they get cut happy and take away to much. I have ridden in vehicles with improperly selected lowering springs and coilovers that were way more dangerous than some lightly trimmed springs. Then again there are always people out there willing to die for their belief in what they know as to be "right".
