Thanks man!

I started thinking about the egg crate thing when I read that, and couldn't get it out of my head. I tried to let it grow on me, but it's just not working... every time I walked toward my truck I couldn't help but think of a giant egg crate on the front LOL. I decided to go with the 88-93 GMC one off a junker to match the dual headlights, keeping it oldschool. I've got new side markers coming in Friday from work so hopefully that'll tie the rest of it together.

Also stripped off the plastidip and fender flares. (The body lift is so much less noticeable without black rockers, but is still coming off in March). The weather's starting to ease up so I think I'll try my hand at paint-matching and buffing out the paint where the trim discolored/removed it.

Also, out of curiosity I dyno'd this thing and sweet jesus, I didn't know so many horses could escape per year. Pulling 136 HP and 220 TQ at 3800 RPM peak .
Been rebuilding an OEM throttlebody, flow matching injectors, collecting factory air intake assembly pieces, etc... seeing what gives me most power and MPG bang for my buck. 75 lost horses and 10 mpg isn't sitting right with me.

I know the 285s have a lot to do with it, but that's pretty unacceptable.

Will do! Getting some Energy Suspension replacements, and still need to source the factory size for the body mount bolts, then I'll PM you for sure; might be a couple weeks, though.

Tonight's project ended a bit short. Apparently I didn't do enough homework and need some sort of lower bumper bracket or something to fit the grille correctly.
And the billet grille I got didn't fit the aftermarket... one of the two is screwy and I don't know which. Going to check the junkyard tomorrow to see if I can find a stock white grille to compare.

Looks much cleaner though, imo

The body lift bed bolts will fit the stock cab mounts fyi
Yes the lower "filler" piece is differant between the chevy and gmc grill..... I found that out when I switched to the gmc grill aswell..lol..

No checy and gmc are the same 88-93 and 94-98 it changes by years not brand
Thanks man!

Tires won't affect dyno numbers they're adjusted for that

Shhh, let me believe my motor isn't as tired as it is!

Also, how do the body lift bolts match stock mounts - do they keep threading through the holes up 3"?

The ones from the bed will fit the cab you'll have to get new bolts for the bed. The cab has body bushings while the bed doesn't so the cab bolts are longer

Alright, so lot of catching up to do.. and a lot going on over the next month or so:

-Ordered new side trim, front valance, chrome wheel-well rings and chrome rockers from LMC truck. Put the NBS chomes back on, black work wheels are going on the Toyota.
-Pulling the nerf bars and tonneau cover out of storage to go back on.
-Took off the modded TBI and went back to factory TBI with factory air cleaner. Gained 14 HP, 38ft/lb tq. and roughly 1.7mpg; evidently I didn't mod it correctly or some components on it weren't functioning up to OE specs; either way, I'm happy and it's running much better.
-Took the "CHEVROLET" banner of the tailgate and found out it was painted green originally. Couple of hours of wet-sanding/painting/etc. and we're back to looking good.

This is pretty much the look I'm going for:

-Sent the block in from my Toyota to be rebuilt for the summer project. Helped a friend with a lift install on his '02 Duramax in exchange for some CNC work to mount the 4.3 TBI to the carb plate on the Toyota's intake

the oem flares that you got from the j/y, did you drill holes into your panels in order to mount them or did you remove the studs & use double-sided tape to mount them?

3M Double-sided tape from O'Reilly's and four self-tapping steel screws - one on both inside corners, and one on each bottom end.

Held up very well.

Alright... been away for a long time and got some huge updates:

Neighbor's psychotic wife decided to divorce him after he got laid off; he worked as a distributor for Pepperidge Farm and is now getting rid of his ~90s bread truck. It's got a low-mileage 4BT = new motor for the Chevy. :patriot:

Picked up this truck during school that hadn't run in 10 years from a friend for $200 and made a quick flip. 89,000 original miles w/ a 5spd, just needed a carb rebuild, hoses and some cosmetic/tune-up work and it runs like a champ. Flipped it for just enough to get secure the diesel. I should be pulling that out some time next month.

Meanwhile in March, I graduated from Tech school and got a proper job turning wrenches. Turns out one my classmates got a job building engines, so I called in a massive favor and sent the Toyota engine to him to get a full reman. (sent the head in initially to get valves done... which made the bottom end take a dump). In the meantime, I'm just working on recurving the distributor, rebuilding the front axles/knuckles and rebuilding/desmogging the carb for its higher compression ratio.

I should hopefully have some exciting updates regarding the new diesel powerplant in the (maybe) near future. Apart from some cosmetic LMC addons, the "Chevy" has remained the same. Though it now identifies fully as a GMC. :idiot:
