    Smeding Performance 383 in a 97 C1500

Hi, sorry for the delay. So far so good on the short block. From everything I inspected before final assembly and install, it was top notch. It is a brand new after market block that is much beefier than the stock GM block. It is extremely smooth cruising down the road. Lots of power. I am...

What to do with pre cat and after cat 02 sensors

I defiantly have a lot to learn lol. Oklahoma does not have inspections, I say I won't be running cats, but I am still thinking if I should put high flow cats on or not. Most likely not, depends on if this muffler will be too loud.

What to do with pre cat and after cat 02 sensors

Excellent. Just what I wanted to hear. Thanks a lot for the info. I kind of figured this, but being new to EFI tuning, just wanted to be sure I was thinking correct.

What to do with pre cat and after cat 02 sensors

I have HP Tuners and plan to learn how to do this myself. The truck will not have any cats. So I guess my question should be can the bank 1 sensor 2 (combined pre cat) be deleted along with bank 1 sensor 3 (post cat).

What to do with pre cat and after cat 02 sensors

So I need all 3 pre cat sensors? If so, where do I put B1S2 if it had 1 factory cat? Just in one of the pipes of the duals, which would mean that pass bank would have two sensors and driver bank would only have one.

What to do with pre cat and after cat 02 sensors

From what I have found, bank 1 sensor 2 and bank 1 sensor 3 are what I am asking about for the y pipe into single cat exhaust that the 5.0L had from factory.

What to do with pre cat and after cat 02 sensors

97 GMC Sierra factory 5.0L exhaust uses a small down pipes with O2 sensors in each bank, then into a Y pipe with a pre cat O2 and after cat O2 for a total of 4 sensors. Truck has a 383 with mid length headers, 3" to 2.5" header collectors with O2 bungs for each bank. Head pipes will be 2.5"...

Edelbrock ETec Head Spark Plug Question

Hi. Yes, I have found lots of info on heat range charts from just about everyone except for AC Delco. NGK for example, the higher the number the colder the plug. They have a chart where you can actually see where the heat range number lands. However, I have heard that the lower the number...

Edelbrock ETec Head Spark Plug Question

R44LTS6 was the factory installed AC Delco plug. I have seen heat ranges listed as 3 and 4 for that plug with a .060 gap. NGK did say the TSB GM put out in like 2003 applied to 96-03 to change gap to .040. With that said, I have been looking all day for a heat range chart for AC Delco plugs...

Edelbrock ETec Head Spark Plug Question

Quick question about what spark plugs to run with Edelbrock Etec 170 heads on a Vortec 383 OEM ignition system. The heads call for a 14mm 3/4" reach 5/8" hex washer plug. I know the factory plug specs on the Vortec are a .060 gap with a heat range of 5, so I have been trying to find a...

    Smeding Performance 383 in a 97 C1500

Truck is finally back on the road. Black box does not like it so much. It runs and drives okay, but the 0411 will be getting installed soon. And I just ordered MPVI3. Will defiantly be asking for help with that.
