I just need to wake up this truck.......454 should equal good power but man is this truck a dog!
So I am starting to plan out the Big Block build out for the truck and had some things I wanted to get opinions on.
Truck as it sits.....
Semi-recently Rebuilt 454 MKIV(less than 30K on it)
Rebuilt 3 speed trans
G80 Locker
Magnaflow Highflow cat
Magnaflow 24" muffler
3" pipe Cat Back...
Got it and posted up some BIN's XDF's etc on what I can find so far.
To the original poster...... have you been able to reflash yet? or have you tried to reflash the tow file to the ECU that starts the truck that you have?
So I helped write and break the code for the SAAB ECU's into an open source application.....now I need to start looking into the GM ECU's. Can you send me pictures of the ECU opened up? and the chip type on it?
Thanks!
Once the ECU is bricked the only way to recover it is to use the BDM pads on the ecu board in most cases. I would give it a go one more time to see if you can reflash it. Not sure if these trucks are the same as my SAAB (GM) ecu where I have to have 13.5V to flash it and anything less wont allow...
Yeah was thinking that the compressor is on the down side of its life......well time to start looking for the replacement. The A/C has started to have intermittent times when it gets a little warm and then cools down but its always loud with a bad vibration.
Hey so the truck is a 1990 7.5L R2500 Suburban 3/4 Ton and I had a few questions was hoping to get some advice on.
1. Oil Pressure Switch/Sender - So my oil pressure gauge reads about the same thing no matter if its cold or hot so thinking I have a bad oil pressure switch/sender. The gauge...
I vote megasquirt setup and use T25 from a NG900 (1994-1999) or the old T3 oil only cooled from a 1984-1993 SAAB Classic 900 (both types can be had from ebay rebuilt around $250-350). Check over on http://www.thirdgen.org and they have a few writeups/posts on using megasquirt on the BBC...
So on my truck its a recently rebuilt 454 that just started doing this.... In looking at the smoke its bluish/grey and goes away in about 1-2 minutes tops and wreaks of fuel combined with a heavy fuel smell coming from the exhaust when you drive as well.
As for the coolant no bubbles or oil in...
Do you get any fuel smell at all when it smokes? My '90 454 Burb does this for about 1-2 minutes when I first start it and is running super rich at startup. So far I think i have tracked mine down to EGR valve but will have to see after i test it.
I would personally just rebuild the 350 you...
